I just got my new printer/scanner combo in today. I am usually an advocate against such conglomerates but I couldn't pass up the 11x17 printing and the scanner combo - especially since my scanner is ancient and my printer died months ago. First thing I did was fire up Manga Studio and do a test print. I had set up pages that were as close as I could get to standard US comic page size (before shrinking) and I'd always wondered if they printed correctly. Well...THEY DO! The page size I created in Manga Studio accommodates 10x15 images and from the two prints I've done on Blue Line comic book pages, the results are crisp and smooth.
The only real tell tale sign it's a print is the lack of layered brush strokes. I'm in heaven. This is really putting a strain on me though, as it's making me want to put aside my day-gig as a modeler and work full time on the comic my friend and I are making on weekends. All in good time though, right? The great thing is, I can ink in Manga Studio without worry of it's final output. Originally, I'd only ever printed 8x11 sized images from it and at 1200dpi, it's a bit impossible to know if the print is good because the program is doing its job or the printer is. Getting those same images to print crisply at 1200 dpi and even 600 dpi full size (11x17) was the real test and Manga Studio 4 passed with flying colors.
YAY.
Now I'm off to find something else on my HD I can print. I'm like a kid in a candy store!
